Just days after Apple officially unveiled its first-ever smart display, the HomeView, a small but welcome deal has emerged. For those eager to bring this new addition to their smart homes, Amazon is currently offering the HomeView for $289.99, a $10 reduction from its $299 retail price. This early bird discount is available for both the sleek gray and the creamy white 'starlight' colorways.

The HomeView, which officially launches on November 13th, is positioned as a central hub for the smart home, boasting support for Matter and Thread. It can seamlessly control compatible smart home devices, display live feeds from HomeKit Secure Video cameras, and even act as a personal assistant powered by Siri. Apple highlights its ability to leverage personal context from messages, calendars, and emails to provide tailored responses and assistance, such as finding lost items or managing schedules.

Early impressions suggest the HomeView resembles a larger Apple Watch, featuring a seven-inch square touchscreen capable of recognizing up to six household members. This allows for personalized experiences, automatically adjusting to the user's profile. Beyond its smart home capabilities, the device also serves as an entertainment platform, supporting music playback and photo display, and includes a 12-megapixel FaceTime camera for video calls.

While the discount is minor, deals on brand-new Apple products, especially at launch, are quite rare. This early price cut might be a small incentive for consumers looking to be among the first to experience Apple's entry into the competitive smart display market. A full review is expected in November, but initial hands-on impressions have likened it to an 'iPhone for your home'.
