Apple's Budget MacBook Neo Sees Price Hike for Students

Apple has increased the education pricing for its budget MacBook Neo, raising the starting price by $150 since its launch. Students now pay $649, a significant shift from its initial $499 educational price point.
Hey tech enthusiasts! It looks like Apple's more budget-friendly MacBook Neo is getting a bit pricier, especially for students. The MacBook Neo, which initially launched with an attractive starting price of $499 for education customers, has seen its price steadily climb. As reported, the education store price for the Neo has now jumped to $649, marking a $150 increase from its original education starting price.
This recent price adjustment follows a $50 bump for the student discount, which itself came after a $100 price increase back in June. So, what was once a significant $200 difference between the education price and the regular retail price ($699) has now shrunk to just $50. This means students are now paying $649 for the base configuration, which includes 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM, and notably, doesn't include Touch ID.
The MacBook Neo's initial low price was undoubtedly its strongest appeal when it was announced in March. However, this key selling point has been gradually diminishing with these successive price increases. While it still offers a more accessible entry point into the Apple ecosystem compared to other MacBooks, the eroding discount might make students reconsider if it remains the most compelling option for their needs.
It's always interesting to see how Apple adjusts its pricing strategies, especially for its education offerings. We'll have to keep an eye on whether this trend continues or if Apple decides to re-evaluate the Neo's position in the market.
