The smart glasses market is heating up, and it looks like Apple isn't planning to settle for a 'one size fits all' approach. According to the latest reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the tech giant is currently testing at least four different styles for its upcoming smart glasses. This move suggests that Apple wants to ensure its wearable looks as much like traditional eyewear as possible, catering to various face shapes and personal tastes.

Internally code-named N50, these glasses are being designed to go head-to-head with the second-generation Ray-Ban Meta models, which have seen surprising success. The four styles under testing reportedly include a large rectangular frame similar to the iconic Ray-Ban Wayfarers, a slimmer rectangular design reminiscent of the glasses Apple CEO Tim Cook wears, and two versions of oval or circular frames in large and small sizes. To add more variety, Apple is also experimenting with colors like black, ocean blue, and light brown.

While the hardware is exciting, the real magic will likely lie in the software integration. Unlike the Vision Pro, which is a full spatial computer, these smart glasses are expected to focus on capturing photos and videos while staying deeply synced with your iPhone. Imagine taking a call, checking notifications, or interacting with an improved version of Siri—potentially launching with iOS 27—all without taking your phone out of your pocket. Some reports even suggest the glasses might feature vertically oriented oval lenses with surrounding lights to distinguish them from Meta’s offerings.

Don't expect to see these on shelves just yet, though. Current rumors point toward a reveal in late 2026 or early 2027, with an official release following later that year. It seems Apple is taking its time to perfect the balance between fashion and functionality, a strategy that has served them well with the Apple Watch in the past.
