Chrome Gets 'Skills': Save Your Favorite Gemini Prompts

Google is introducing a new feature called 'Skills' to Chrome on desktop, allowing users to save and reuse their favorite Gemini prompts for faster productivity.
Google is making its AI integration even more practical for everyday users. A new feature called "Skills" is rolling out to Chrome on desktop, designed to help you save your most-used Gemini prompts. Instead of retyping the same complex instructions over and over, you can now store them for quick access whenever you need a helping hand while browsing.
So, how does it work? Imagine you frequently look up recipes and want to know the protein content, or perhaps you're a tech enthusiast who constantly compares product specs across different tabs. With Skills, you can save specific prompts tailored to these tasks. Google even provides some ready-to-go prompts to get you started, which is a nice touch for those of us who sometimes struggle with "prompt engineering."
Accessing your saved Skills is quite intuitive. You can either type a forward slash (/) in the Gemini sidebar or click the plus (+) button to see your list. It seems like Google is trying to turn the browser into a more active productivity partner rather than just a window to the web. For now, the feature is rolling out to users with their browser language set to US English, but a wider rollout is likely on the horizon.
This update follows a series of AI-focused improvements for Chrome, including the dedicated Gemini sidebar and the Nano Banana image generator. While we still see traditional updates like vertical tabs from time to time, it's clear that Google’s primary focus is making AI an inseparable part of the browsing experience. For those who find themselves using AI daily, this little shortcut could be a massive time-saver.
