Three vendors — Cohesity, ServiceNow and Datadog — are collaborating on a recoverability suite designed to help organizations roll back damage caused by runaway or malicious AI processes. The joint effort focuses on locating files and data altered by AI activity, assessing integrity, and restoring systems to a validated "trusted state."

The partners say the service will comb storage and telemetry to identify corruption, then automate restoration workflows so IT teams can recover faster with less manual triage. Cohesity brings data protection and backup expertise, ServiceNow contributes workflow and incident orchestration, while Datadog supplies observability signals to trace where AI-driven changes occurred.

Enterprises have been grappling with an uptick in incidents where generative and agentic AI tools produce destructive outcomes — from inadvertent mass edits to policy-violating actions that alter or delete data. The new suite aims to reduce mean time to recover (MTTR) by stitching together detection, impact analysis and recovery playbooks across the three vendors' platforms.

Implementation details are still emerging: vendors outline plans for tight integrations between backup snapshots, service-management tickets and observability traces, enabling automated rollback triggers when certain anomalies are detected. The offering also appears geared toward supporting compliance needs by preserving audit trails of what changed and when.

For IT teams, the pitch is practical: instead of chasing down where an AI went off-script, they could rely on a coordinated toolchain to find corrupted objects and restore them from a vetted source. That could be especially valuable for organizations experimenting with AI agents that have write access to systems.

While no single product can eliminate every risk introduced by autonomous AI, combining backup, observability and orchestration provides a stronger safety net. Expect more detail on availability, supported platforms and pricing as the partners move from announcement to trials.
