Hey tech enthusiasts! Get ready to meet the latest addition to DJI's audio lineup: the Mic Mini 2. This little gadget is making waves by offering high-quality wireless sound recording at a surprisingly affordable price point, around $100. It’s a mild update to its predecessor, but with some stylish new twists and a much friendlier price tag, making it a compelling choice for anyone looking to up their audio game.

Remember when professional wireless mics felt like they cost a fortune and involved a tangled mess of wires? Well, DJI is clearly on a mission to change that. The original Mic Mini already impressed us by packing a mic and transmitter into a tiny, 0.35-ounce device for under $100. Now, the Mic Mini 2 builds on that success, not only with a lower price but also with a fashion-forward design featuring colorful magnetic covers. Plus, it boasts audio enhancements with new voice tone presets, aiming to be the go-to budget wireless mic for newcomers.

For those of you already rocking the original Mic Mini, this might not be the upgrade you're looking for. However, if you're just starting out or need a reliable audio solution, the Mic Mini 2 is definitely worth considering. Just a heads-up for our US readers: it's not yet available stateside as it's awaiting FCC certification. But elsewhere, you can grab it!

The Mic Mini 2 comes in two flavors: one for smartphones and one for cameras. Both kits include a charging case, one or two transmitters (the mics themselves), and a receiver. You also get a variety of mounts and clips. What's really cool are the new magnetic covers, available in a rainbow of hues reminiscent of '90s iMacs. You can even get designer covers with abstract patterns if you're feeling extra stylish, though they come at an additional cost. The transmitters themselves have a slightly flatter design now to better accommodate these magnetic covers, and while they weigh a smidge more, they still pack an impressive battery life – up to 11.5 hours on a single charge! The receiver isn't far behind, offering around 10.5 hours. DJI's charging case is a lifesaver, providing multiple recharges on the go, meaning you can potentially get up to 48 hours of use without needing a power outlet.

When it comes to sound, the Mic Mini 2 delivers excellent 48kHz, 24-bit audio quality. It offers three voice tone presets: 'rich' for emphasizing low tones, 'regular' for a balanced sound, and 'bright' for clarity in noisy environments. While it lacks the 32-bit float internal recording of DJI's pricier Mic 3, it does have automatic limiting to prevent clipping and offers two levels of AI-powered noise cancellation. The higher noise cancellation setting can be a bit heavy-handed, so use it wisely. Its wireless range is also impressive, with DJI claiming up to 450 yards, and in testing, it held up well, only disconnecting once at that maximum distance.

Overall, the DJI Mic Mini 2 is a fantastic option for content creators on a budget. It offers a great blend of range, audio quality, and useful features. While it might not tempt existing Mic Mini owners, it sets a new standard for affordable wireless audio. Happy recording!
