Elon Musk Denies SpaceX AI Phone Prototype Report

Elon Musk has publicly refuted a Wall Street Journal report claiming SpaceX showed investors a prototype of a new AI-powered phone. The report suggested the device was slimmer than an iPhone and would run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip with an AI operating system powered by xAI.
Well, it seems the rumors are flying faster than a Starship rocket, but this time, Elon Musk is shutting them down. A recent report from The Wall Street Journal suggested that SpaceX had been showing off a prototype of a new AI-powered device to investors, a handset described as being slimmer than an iPhone and set to run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. The device was also said to feature its own AI-enabled operating system, leveraging the capabilities of SpaceX's own AI venture, xAI.
However, in true Musk fashion, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to call the report "utterly false." This direct denial from the SpaceX chief puts a swift end to speculation about the company venturing into the smartphone market, at least for now. The initial report had linked this alleged prototype reveal to SpaceX's record-breaking IPO in June, suggesting it was part of their investor presentations.
While the idea of a SpaceX phone might have sparked imaginations among tech enthusiasts and fans of the company's ambitious projects, Musk's firm rebuttal means we won't be seeing any Starlink-enabled smartphones hitting the market anytime soon. It's a reminder that even with groundbreaking ventures like Starlink and Starship, not every rumor about the company's future products will materialize. So, for now, it looks like our current smartphones are safe from a potential Musk-designed upgrade, at least until he decides to officially comment on something other than denying it!
