GTA VI Preorders Open Amidst Delays and Leaks

It's been a long wait for Grand Theft Auto fans, and it seems the wait is far from over. Rockstar Games has officially opened preorders for the highly anticipated GTA VI, but the game's release has seen further delays. Originally slated for a fall 2025 release, the date was first pushed to May 26th, 2026, and then again to November 19th, 2026. This latest delay means players will have to wait over a year longer than initially planned.

Adding to the anticipation and frustration, GTA VI has also been at the center of multiple leaks. Early builds of the game were leaked a few years ago, and more recently, a series of posts dubbed "CyberLeaks" have surfaced, showcasing in-game sequences just days before Rockstar's planned Netflix-exclusive event on August 27th. These leaks have put pressure on the developer, even leading to Microsoft and Discord being subpoenaed in connection with the gameplay leaks.

Players can now preorder the digital code-only game, with two editions available: the standard edition priced at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99. Both will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game is set to follow protagonists Jason and Lucia as they navigate a criminal conspiracy in Vice City after a job goes awry. The glimpses offered so far hint at a narrative-driven experience building on the iconic Vice City setting.

The development of GTA VI hasn't been without its internal challenges either. The studio has faced accusations of union busting following the dismissal of over 30 employees. Despite these hurdles, Rockstar Games appears committed to delivering the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto saga, aiming to meet the immense expectations of its global fanbase.
