Indie Pass: A New $8 Subscription for Indie Game Lovers

Indie.io has announced Indie Pass, a PC-only subscription service dedicated exclusively to indie titles. Launching on April 13 for just $8 a month, it aims to offer a curated alternative to more expensive gaming services.
We all know the feeling: subscription fatigue is real. Between streaming platforms, music services, and various software passes, our monthly statements are looking a bit crowded. However, for those who live and breathe indie games, a new contender is entering the ring that might just be worth those extra few dollars. Publisher indie.io has officially announced "Indie Pass," a subscription service designed specifically for the indie gaming community.
Set to launch on April 13, Indie Pass will debut with a library of over 70 games. While many of us are used to the massive catalogs of giants like Xbox Game Pass, Indie Pass is carving out a niche by focusing entirely on smaller, creative titles. The most attractive part? The price tag. At just $8 per month, it’s significantly more affordable than Game Pass Ultimate, which has seen its price climb toward the $30 mark recently. For the price of a fancy coffee, you get access to a curated selection of gems.
The initial lineup already looks promising. Indie.io has confirmed titles such as the cozy life-sim Echoes of the Plum Grove, the quirky farm-based shooter Air Hares, and the tactical RPG Dark Deity. The company promises a "constantly evolving catalog," which is a bold claim, but since indie.io publishes a wide variety of titles themselves, they have a steady pipeline to keep the service fresh. They are also actively courting other indie developers and publishers to join the platform, which could mean even more variety in the coming months.
Currently, Indie Pass is a PC-exclusive affair. However, there is a silver lining for handheld fans. While there isn't a dedicated console app yet, the service is expected to work on the Steam Deck via the Proton layer. This would allow players to enjoy these indie titles on the go, making the $8 investment even more tempting for the portable gaming crowd. Whether gamers are ready for one more monthly bill remains to be seen, but for indie enthusiasts, this looks like a very localized and affordable way to discover their next favorite game.
