Legora Raises $550M to Speed Up US Expansion
AI's Take|Why it Matters?
Swedish legaltech Legora has closed a $550 million Series D at a $5.55 billion valuation to grow its US presence. The capital will fund hires, new hubs and deeper customer support as law firms move from AI experiments to production workflows.
Legora, the collaborative AI platform for lawyers, announced a $550 million Series D round at a $5.55 billion valuation to accelerate expansion across the United States. The financing, led by Accel with a mix of longtime and new investors, arrives as legal teams increasingly embed AI tools into day-to-day workflows.
The round includes participation from Benchmark, Bessemer Venture Partners, General Catalyst, ICONIQ, Redpoint Ventures, Y Combinator and new backers such as Alkeon Capital, Bain Capital, Firstmark Capital, Menlo Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, Sands Capital and Starwood Capital. Legora says the raise coincides with its first US anniversary and a string of major customer wins.
Since opening its first US office in New York in March 2025, Legora has moved quickly: it’s already added offices in Houston and Chicago alongside New York and Denver, and plans more local hubs. The company expects to employ over 300 people across its US footprint by the end of 2026, building on a jump from 40 to 400 employees globally in the past year.
CEO and co-founder Max Junestrand noted that adoption in the US has outpaced expectations, with leading firms shifting from experimentation to embedding AI across organisations. He said the funding will be used to invest in talent, infrastructure and local customer support to help legal teams integrate AI into mission‑critical work.
Accel partner Arun Mathew described Legora as focused on building an AI operating system for the legal industry, pointing to a broader trend of end‑to‑end workflows being run by intelligent agents. Legora’s platform currently supports tens of thousands of lawyers daily across about 800 customers in more than 50 markets.
Legora emphasizes a collaborative development approach, working alongside clients from initial exploration through full‑scale rollout and ongoing optimisation. For US law firms weighing AI deployment, the company is positioning itself as a hands‑on partner for the long haul.
