Microsoft's Fable Reboot Delayed Again to Early 2027

Hold onto your enchanted swords, gamers, because Microsoft's Fable reboot has hit another delay. Originally slated for an autumn 2026 release, the beloved RPG is now set to grace our screens in February 2027. It’s a bit of a bummer, we know, but there's a silver lining!

Microsoft has confirmed that we'll get to feast our eyes on a "new look" at Fable during the Xbox Games Showcase happening on June 7th. So, while we wait a little longer for the full adventure, at least we’ll get a glimpse of what Playground Games has been cooking up.

In a statement on the official Xbox account on X, the company highlighted the packed release schedule for Xbox players, mentioning titles like Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4, Control Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, and the much-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI. "In order to plan our game launches through the holidays, in a way that works best for players, we're moving Fable to February 2027," the statement read, aiming to avoid a crowded release window.

This isn't the first time Fable has faced a delay, and in the fast-paced world of game development, it's not entirely uncommon. However, for a title as eagerly awaited as Fable, each delay can feel like a small eternity for fans. The original Fable games were known for their charming British humor, player choice, and distinct fairy-tale world. The reboot aims to capture that magic while bringing it into the modern era with stunning visuals and updated gameplay mechanics.
