In a move that's likely to be welcomed by gamers, Microsoft has decided to lower the monthly subscription costs for both Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. This decision follows an admission from Xbox CEO Asha Sharma last week, who openly stated that "Game Pass has become too expensive for players." Effective immediately, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will see its price drop from $29.99 to $22.99 per month. Similarly, PC Game Pass is now available for $13.99 per month, down from its previous $16.49 price point.

This strategic price adjustment appears to be influenced by a shift in how future Call of Duty titles will be integrated into the Game Pass ecosystem. It's been confirmed that new installments in the popular franchise will no longer be available on Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass on their launch day. Instead, gamers will have to wait until the following holiday season, approximately a year after the initial release, to play these new titles through their subscription. However, existing Call of Duty games already within the Game Pass library will remain accessible.

This price cut could be a crucial step for Microsoft as it aims to maintain and grow its subscriber base in an increasingly competitive gaming landscape. By making the service more affordable, the company hopes to attract new users and retain existing ones who might have been deterred by the previous pricing. It's an interesting strategy that balances content availability with accessibility, and it will be fascinating to see how it impacts Game Pass's overall appeal and market position in the coming months.
