Well, this is certainly an unusual way to get a sneak peek at unannounced tech! It looks like we might have just gotten our first glimpse of the Google Pixel Watch 5, and the source is as unexpected as it gets: Randy Pitchford, the creative mind behind the Borderlands game franchise. He took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a couple of images of a smartwatch that a friend apparently found while scuba diving near Saint Martin.

According to Pitchford's post, the watch's casing clearly indicates it's a Google Pixel 5, a device that hasn't even been officially announced yet, let alone released to the public. What's even more intriguing is that the watch seems to be in working order. Pitchford noted that while the battery was empty, it still had enough residual power to display the correct time. This suggests a surprising level of durability and functionality, even after an unexpected dip in the ocean.

Pitchford mentioned that after finding the device, his friend put out a call to try and locate its owner. It’s a curious situation, to say the least. While it's possible this is an elaborate hoax or a different device entirely, the images and Pitchford's account certainly add a layer of mystery to the upcoming Pixel Watch. We'll have to wait for an official announcement from Google to confirm if this truly is the Pixel Watch 5 and what other features it might bring to the table. For now, though, this underwater discovery makes for one of the more memorable tech leaks we've seen in a while. What do you think, Mobikolik readers? Could this be the real deal?
