Redmagic's latest gaming phone, the 12 Pro, integrates RGB lighting into its transparent liquid cooling system. While the lights function and offer customization, their visual impact is somewhat hindered by the blue coolant.

Redmagic is taking its commitment to advanced cooling in gaming phones a step further with the new 12 Pro. Following last year's introduction of true liquid cooling, the company has now embedded RGB lights directly into the transparent cooling loop. The aim? To add a touch of customizable flair to the hardware's performance.

And the lights do indeed switch on, offering users the ability to set them to glow in various patterns, activate for specific applications, or even pulse for incoming notifications and calls. However, as with last year's 11 Pro model, the visual spectacle is somewhat challenged by the fluorescent blue liquid used in the cooling system. The lights often struggle to overcome the dominant blue hue, with white or blue lighting merely intensifying the blue, and colors like green appearing turquoise. Red or orange lights, while visible, often result in a striking visual of colored bubbles suspended within the blue liquid.

Beyond the flashy cooling system, the Redmagic 12 Pro is also boasting an impressive 185Hz display, further enhancing its appeal to mobile gamers seeking a competitive edge. The integration of such a high refresh rate display suggests a focus on delivering fluid visuals and rapid response times, crucial for fast-paced gaming.

While the RGB integration in the cooling loop might not be the revolutionary aesthetic upgrade some might have hoped for, it certainly adds a unique personality to the device. For dedicated mobile gamers who prioritize performance and cutting-edge features, the Redmagic 12 Pro appears to be packing some serious hardware. The question remains whether the visual compromises of the RGB cooling are a significant drawback, or simply a quirky characteristic of an otherwise powerful gaming smartphone.
