Roku’s Howdy subscription service, which launched in August 2025, has landed as a Prime Video channel option — bringing almost 10,000 hours of licensed and original programming to Amazon’s viewers.

The Howdy catalog includes content from big-name partners such as Lionsgate, Sony Pictures, Disney Entertainment, Warner Bros. Discovery and FilmRise, along with select Roku Original titles. Offering the service through Prime Video could help Roku reach viewers who prefer to manage subscriptions inside Amazon’s ecosystem rather than switching between multiple apps.

For consumers, the integration means easy access: Prime members can add Howdy directly from the Prime Video interface, streamlining billing and discovery. That convenience is increasingly important as audiences juggle a growing number of services and seek simpler ways to find and pay for content.

From Roku’s perspective, distribution through Prime Video represents a strategic push to diversify Howdy’s audience beyond Roku hardware owners. While Roku remains best known for its streaming players and TVs, the company has been expanding its software-first footprint. Placing Howdy on a platform as widely used as Prime Video helps Roku capitalize on existing content deals and monetize its programming library through subscription revenue.

Industry watchers note that bundling or offering channels inside major storefronts can boost visibility and subscriber conversion. For studio partners, expanded distribution on platforms like Prime Video may mean more licensing flexibility and incremental viewership. For Roku, the challenge will be keeping Howdy compelling enough — through fresh content and smart curation — to retain subscribers amid fierce streaming competition.

Overall, the Prime Video launch feels like a logical next step for Howdy: it broadens reach, simplifies the user experience, and tests Roku’s ability to grow a standalone subscription product beyond its own ecosystem.
