Sony has announced the successor to its high-end gaming monitor, featuring LG's latest Tandem OLED technology. The M10S II aims to justify its $1,100 price tag with significantly higher brightness and a blistering 480Hz refresh rate.

Sony is making a bold move in the premium gaming market with the announcement of the InZone M10S II. While the original M10S was praised for its compact stand and impressive speed, it faced criticism for its high price and lack of features compared to rivals. The new model seems to be Sony’s answer to those critiques, keeping the $1,099.99 price point but packing in some seriously impressive display technology.

The headline feature here is the inclusion of a fourth-generation WOLED panel, utilizing LG Display’s Primary RGB Tandem technology. For those who aren't display nerds, "Tandem OLED" essentially stacks two layers of OLEDs on top of each other. This usually results in much higher peak brightness and better longevity—tech we've recently seen in high-end tablets like the M4 iPad Pro. In the context of a gaming monitor, this means the M10S II will likely offer much more punchy HDR highlights and deeper contrast than its predecessor.

Speed remains a top priority for Sony’s InZone line. The M10S II maintains a lightning-fast 480Hz refresh rate at 1440p resolution. This puts it right at the top of the food chain for competitive eSports players who demand the lowest possible motion blur. When you combine the near-instant response times of OLED with a 480Hz refresh rate, the result is a visual experience that feels incredibly fluid during fast-paced action.

Design-wise, Sony is sticking with the small, circular base that many gamers appreciated for leaving more desk space for large mousepads. However, the internal upgrades are the real story here. By moving to the latest generation of OLED panels, Sony looks like it is finally ready to compete with the heavy hitters from Samsung and Alienware in the high-end segment. The monitor is expected to launch later this year, exclusively through Sony's online store.
