Universal Studios Hollywood is taking steps to address noise concerns from local residents surrounding its new "Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift" rollercoaster. Following complaints about the screams of riders, park executives announced at a meeting attended by over 350 people that an additional sound barrier will be erected around the attraction. This move comes after the rollercoaster, which opened on September 16th, already had some noise mitigation measures in place.

In addition to the new sound barrier, Universal Studios Hollywood has also agreed to a temporary operational change. The "Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift" coaster will not operate between 8 AM and 9 AM for the remainder of the year. This decision aims to further reduce the impact of the ride's noise on the surrounding community during early morning hours.

The park had previously implemented several strategies to minimize noise. These included an existing sound barrier, designing the 72 mph rollercoaster to operate as quietly as possible, and even orienting the rider cars to face away from nearby residential areas. However, it appears these measures were not entirely sufficient to appease all local residents, leading to the commitment for further action.

This situation highlights the ongoing challenge theme parks face in balancing thrilling attractions with the need to be good neighbors to surrounding communities. While Universal Hollywood is striving to offer an exciting experience with its new coaster, it's also demonstrating a willingness to listen to and address resident concerns through tangible changes.
