Valve Clarifies Steam Deck LCD Battery Availability

Valve has addressed concerns regarding the discontinuation of Steam Deck LCD batteries. The company confirmed that iFixit will restock these essential parts by next week.
It seems there was a bit of a scare for Steam Deck LCD owners, but thankfully, Valve has stepped in to clarify the situation regarding replacement batteries. Initially, reports suggested that Valve was discontinuing the sale of batteries for the popular handheld, which would have been a significant blow for users needing repairs. This move would have prevented customers from easily purchasing and installing the most crucial component for their devices.
However, Valve has since confirmed with The Verge that this is not the case. "We just confirmed with iFixit that they plan to have batteries back in stock by next week," a spokesperson stated. This should come as a huge relief to the community, as it means the DIY repairability of the Steam Deck LCD remains intact.
The good news continues, as iFixit will be receiving the same original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts that are sourced through Valve’s partners. This ensures that the replacement batteries will be of the same quality as the originals. So, if your Steam Deck LCD is experiencing battery issues, or if you're planning for future maintenance, you won't be left in the lurch. It’s great to see Valve prioritizing customer support and repairability for their devices. Keep an eye on iFixit’s store next week for the restock!
