Wanderstop Developer Ivy Road Announces Studio Closure

Ivy Road, the studio behind the cozy hit Wanderstop, is officially closing its doors on March 31 after failing to secure funding for its next project.
It’s always a bit of a heartbreaker when a talented indie studio has to say goodbye, especially one that brought us such unique experiences. Ivy Road, the developer behind the critically acclaimed cozy game Wanderstop, has announced that it will be shutting down on March 31. Despite the warm reception of their debut title, the studio struggled to find the necessary financial backing to keep the lights on for their upcoming endeavors.
According to the team, the primary reason for this difficult decision was the inability to land a funding and publishing deal for their next project, tentatively titled Engine Angel. The writing was somewhat on the wall earlier this year; back in January, the studio had to lay off five team members as they desperately searched for a way to stay afloat. Unfortunately, those efforts didn't quite pan out as hoped, leading to the total closure of the studio.
For those of you who haven't played Wanderstop yet, don't worry—the game isn't going anywhere. It follows the story of Alta, a former fighter who finds peace (or tries to) by running a tea shop in a magical forest. It’s a beautiful blend of management and narrative depth that resonated with many players. The good news is that the game will remain available for purchase and play on all current platforms even after the studio officially dissolves at the end of the month.
Before they head out, the Ivy Road team teased one final surprise. While they didn't give away any specifics, they mentioned that their publisher, Annapurna Interactive, will be sharing more news about this mysterious update in the near future. It seems like a bittersweet way to say farewell to a community that has supported them through this journey. We wish the developers the best of luck in their future paths; the industry definitely needs more creative voices like theirs.
