Avvoka Raises £14M to Scale AI Drafting for Law Firms
AI's Take|Why it Matters?
UK legaltech Avvoka has raised £14 million in a growth round led by Valhalla Ventures to expand its AI-powered drafting platform. The funding will accelerate US expansion and further development of its structured drafting infrastructure for high-volume legal work.
Avvoka, a UK-based legaltech firm that builds AI-powered drafting infrastructure for law firms, has closed a £14 million growth funding round led by Valhalla Ventures. The company says the fresh capital will be used to grow its US footprint and advance platform capabilities designed for high-volume, high-accuracy legal drafting.
Founded by former Magic Circle lawyers Eliot Benzecrit and David Howorth, Avvoka aims to convert institutional precedent and experience into reusable, structured templates. Its automation engine leans on large language models to detect variables, clauses and conditions in documents, while governance controls keep drafts aligned with a firm’s established standards.
Rather than replacing conventional processes, Avvoka positions its tools as an integration into rules-based automation frameworks that many law firms already use. That hybrid approach—AI plus supervised, structured processes—helps firms scale output without sacrificing quality or compliance, the company says.
Co-founder Eliot Benzecrit notes that rising client expectations and increasing workloads are making one-off document automation less workable. By turning legal knowledge into supervised systems, Avvoka hopes to boost efficiency while protecting a firm’s competitive edge.
The investment arrives amid a broader move by legal teams to experiment with generative AI for operational tasks. Avvoka has concentrated on building infrastructure that supports governance and human oversight—key concerns in legal environments where accuracy and consistency are critical.
With the new funding, Avvoka plans to accelerate product development focused on handling larger volumes of drafting work and to expand sales and customer success efforts in the US market. Observers will be watching whether the company’s structured approach helps law firms adopt AI more confidently and at scale.
