Google TV Gets Three New Gemini AI Features

Google is rolling out three Gemini-powered features to Google TV: richer visual help, interactive deep dives, and sports briefs. The tools aim to make TV more informative and interactive, initially arriving in the US and Canada with global expansion planned later in 2026.
Google is expanding Gemini’s reach on Google TV with three AI-driven features that try to make watching TV a bit more useful. The updates include richer visual help, interactive “deep dives” on topics, and narrated sports briefs — all designed to turn passive viewing into a more informative experience.
Richer visual help surfaces contextual visuals along with answers. Ask for a live sports score and Gemini won’t stop at the numbers: it can show an updating scorecard and tell you where the game is streaming. Looking for a recipe? The interface can pair search results with a step-by-step video tutorial when available, so you get both instructions and a visual guide in one place.
The "deep dives" are meant for viewers who want to learn rather than just browse. Trigger a deep dive on an economic trend, scientific topic or tech innovation, and Gemini assembles a custom, interactive walkthrough. You can follow up with more questions as the guide unfolds, making it easier to explore a subject from the couch without opening another device.
Finally, sports briefs work like the news briefs Google added last year, but focused on sports. You can ask your TV for narrated, timely overviews of leagues such as the NBA, NCAA basketball, NHL, MLS and NWSL. It’s pitched as a phone-off-the-couch alternative for catching up on scores and highlights.
At launch, deep dives and sports briefs are limited to Gemini-enabled devices in the US, with broader device support promised later in spring. Richer visual help starts rolling out today in the US and Canada, and Google says these features will arrive in more countries through 2026, beginning with Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
