Grave Seasons Blends Cozy Farming with Lovecraft Horror

Blumhouse Games and Perfect Garbage have announced Grave Seasons, a cozy-horror farming sim due August 14 for major platforms. The game mixes Stardew-style town life with murder mysteries and Lovecraftian threats.
Grave Seasons arrives August 14, according to an announcement at the Xbox Partner Preview event, and it arrives with a clear personality: cozy farming life with a properly eerie twist. If you picture Stardew Valley swapping its sunny pastures for fog, strange symbols and an occasional tentacled horror, you’re on the right track.
Developed by Perfect Garbage — the studio behind the narrative cyberpunk title Love Shore — and published by Blumhouse Games, the project leans into horror credentials without abandoning the comforts of the genre. Players will farm, mine, build relationships with villagers and tackle romance arcs, but they’ll also investigate murders, fend off bloodthirsty demons and navigate a town where nothing is quite what it seems.
Blumhouse’s involvement makes sense: the publisher is an offshoot of a film studio known for modern horror hits. That pedigree helps set expectations for tone and atmosphere, even if the gameplay itself favors slow, player-driven progression over jump-scare sprinting.
Grave Seasons is launching on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, which should make it accessible to most cozy-sim fans. The reveal trailer leans into contrast — warm hearths and crop rows interrupted by unsettling sound design and shadowed silhouettes — suggesting the game will balance comfort and creepiness rather than swing fully into either camp.
There’s already a small subgenre of titles that pair gentle mechanics with darker themes — think Graveyard Keeper, Cozy Grove or Spiritfarer. Grave Seasons looks poised to join that lineup by offering a familiar gameplay loop, with investigations and supernatural stakes layered on top. For players who enjoy slow-burn stories and a hint of dread alongside their daily chores, this could be one to watch this summer.
