Reddit is officially removing the r/all feed as part of its strategy to simplify the user interface and push personalized home feeds.

Reddit is undergoing a bit of a spring cleaning, but some long-time users might find this particular change a bit jarring. The platform has confirmed it is deprecating r/all, the legendary feed that once served as the unfiltered "front page of the internet." This move appears to be part of a broader effort to streamline the user experience and put a heavier emphasis on personalized Home feeds.

For those who might need a refresher, Reddit has historically offered several ways to see what’s trending globally. While r/popular provides a curated look at safe-for-work trending topics, r/all was always the more "wild west" version. It included a broader range of content, including NSFW posts that weren't strictly sexually explicit, giving users a raw look at what the entire site was talking about at any given moment.

The decision doesn't come out of nowhere. Reddit has been experimenting with this for a while, quietly removing r/all from its mobile apps earlier this year and hiding it from the desktop sidebar for many users. The company’s logic is simple: they want to reduce redundancy. Having r/popular, r/all, and a personalized Home feed felt like overkill for the modern social media landscape, where algorithmic curation is king.

It looks like Reddit is betting big on its recommendation engine. By pushing users toward the Home feed, the platform can better tailor content to individual interests, which usually leads to higher engagement. However, for the purists who loved the chaotic discovery of r/all, this feels like the end of an era. It seems the days of stumbling upon a random, obscure subreddit through the global firehose are slowly coming to an end.
