Slack is making a significant move into the developer space with the launch of dedicated AI-powered coding channels. The company announced that teams will soon be able to 'vibe-code' together with AI agents, eliminating the need to switch between multiple tools and conversations. This new feature, dubbed 'Slack Code,' aims to simplify the entire development lifecycle.

The introduction includes open, project-specific code channels, complete with dedicated user tabs. These channels will also offer features that allow for comparing coding changes and previewing HTML output before a project is finalized and shipped. AI assistants such as Anthropic's Claude or Cognition's Devin can then be invoked to spin up a dedicated code channel to address the task. Within this channel, team members and AI agents can collaborate seamlessly.
