Sony adds two new soundbars—the compact Bar 5 and the premium Bar 7—plus three subwoofers and upgraded rear speakers to its Bravia Theater lineup. The Bar 5 is available for pre-order now, while the Bar 7, subs and Rear 9 speakers will be up for pre-order later this spring.

Sony is enlarging its Bravia Theater family with two fresh soundbars and a handful of supporting speakers and subwoofers. The new Bar 7 will sit near the top of the lineup as a premium option, while the Bar 5 aims to deliver a compact, more budget-friendly alternative for smaller rooms or apartments.

The Bravia Theater Bar 7 packs nine drivers to handle Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and IMAX Enhanced audio. Its layout includes three woofers, two tweeters, two up-firing units and two side-firing drivers, along with four passive radiators. Sony points out new two-way front speakers and X-Balanced oval drivers for the center, up-firing and side channels, and the system supports 360 Spatial Sound Mapping and Sound Field Optimization for a wider, more immersive soundstage.

The Bar 7 can be purchased bundled with the new Bravia Theater Sub 7 for $870, with standalone pricing of the bar to be announced. Audiophiles can expand the system further by adding Sony’s Theater Rear speakers or pairing multiple subwoofers for fuller low end.

Sony introduced three subwoofers alongside the soundbars: the Sub 7 (5.1-inch driver) at $330, the Sub 8 (7.9-inch) at $500, and the dual-driver Sub 9 at $900. All three support dual-subwoofer setups with select Theater Bars and compatible Sony receivers, a configuration Sony says yields stronger, more balanced bass even at lower listening volumes.

For rear channels, the new Theater Rear 9 upgrades the prior model with an up-firing driver, two passive radiators, aluminum diaphragm drivers and 60-degree swivel wall mounts. A pair of Rear 9 speakers is priced at $750.

The more wallet-friendly Bravia Theater Bar 5 is a 3.1-channel package priced at $350 and includes a wired subwoofer. It lacks dedicated up-firing drivers, so overhead effects are simulated through Sony’s S-Force Pro Front Surround and Vertical Sound Engine, and it includes Voice Zoom 3 for clearer dialogue. The Bar 5 is available for pre-order today; the Bar 7, subwoofers and Rear 9s will follow later this spring.
