Tesla fans in Europe have been waiting for this moment for a long time. The Dutch vehicle authority, RDW, has officially announced the approval of Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised system. This landmark decision follows a rigorous testing period spanning over a year and a half, marking the Netherlands as the first European nation to give the green light to Tesla's advanced driver-assistance technology.

It seems the RDW is quite confident in the system's potential to enhance safety. In their official statement, they highlighted that correctly used driver assistance systems provide a positive contribution to road safety by supporting the driver in their primary tasks. For those of you following the EV scene, this shouldn't come as a complete surprise—after all, Tesla's European headquarters is located in Amsterdam, making the Netherlands the perfect testing ground and launchpad for the continent.

This approval isn't just a win for Dutch Tesla owners; it’s a massive step for the company's expansion across the European Union. Historically, European regulations have been much stricter regarding autonomous driving features compared to the United States. By securing a foothold in the Netherlands, Tesla has essentially created a blueprint that other EU regulators might soon follow. We could be looking at a domino effect where more countries start opening their doors to FSD in the coming months.

However, it is important to remember that this is still "Supervised" FSD. This means you can't just hop in the backseat and take a nap yet! The driver must remain attentive and ready to take control at any moment. Even so, the convenience of having the car handle complex maneuvers under watch is a game-changer for long commutes and highway driving. Stay tuned, because the European roads are about to get a lot more high-tech.
