The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are heading to VR on April 30 with a new first-person action title featuring 4-player co-op.
Get ready to grab your katanas and nunchucks, because the world's most famous pizza-loving brothers are finally making their way into the immersive world of virtual reality. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City is officially set to launch on April 30, bringing the iconic quartet to Meta Quest, Steam VR, and Pico platforms. If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing the world through the eyes of Leonardo or Michelangelo, it looks like your time has finally come.
Developed by Cortopia Studios, this isn't just another mobile port or a small mini-game. Empire City is a full-fledged first-person action title that puts you right in the middle of the chaotic streets of New York. The best part? You don’t have to fight the Foot Clan alone. The game supports solo play, but it truly shines with its four-player co-op mode. This means you and three friends can each take control of a different turtle—Leo, Donnie, Raph, and Mikey—to clear out the sewers and rooftops together.
While we have seen plenty of TMNT games over the decades, this marks the first time the franchise is getting a standalone VR experience. The trailer gives us a glimpse of what to expect, featuring familiar faces like the formidable Karai and the powerhouse Rocksteady. And of course, no TMNT story is complete without April O’Neil, who seems to be serving as the team's tactical support (and pizza delivery person) throughout the missions.
Priced at a very reasonable $25, Empire City seems like a great entry point for VR enthusiasts and TMNT fans alike. Whether you're a veteran of the 80s cartoon or a fan of the modern iterations, there’s something undeniably cool about physically dodging attacks and swinging weapons in a virtual space. Mark your calendars for the end of April; it’s going to be a shell of a time!
